Rashes

Poor Lucas is having rashes on his arms and legs these two days, but is getting well.

We think the flu and several allergic agents trigger it.

Apart from the rashes, Lucas is still very cheerful and active. Now he calls all women 'Ah Ma', even to the nurse in clinic.

By the way, happy 11th month birthday to him. Mama wish you get well very very soon.

Lucas gets 'pimples'??

My ill is getting better but I can barely talk today, I almost lose my voice.

Baby seems to have itchy throat as well and he coughs sometimes, and throws up after the feeding, what a pity.

This poor little thing also gets two eye-catching red spots, one on his chubby cheek, another at his ear. We suspect a bug bite him during mid night.

The one on his face look like a pimple. Baby still looks cute with a pimple!!

Hope he will get well soon.

When will we see the bright blue sky again?

Baby gets slight fever and running nose. Jeff is sending him to see doctor at the moment. I am being trapped in my lifeless cubicle in office.

I am still having itchy throat even I had taken 5 days of antibiotics. My doctor told me my discomfort is caused by the air pollution. The walkathon I joined last Sunday just worsened my illness, because I was exposed in an open, but air polluted area.

It demonstrates how poor air quality causes millions of loss to the society.

When can we wipe away the grey colour from our sky? When can we breathe the fresh air? Is Hong Kong still a suitable place for human habituation? How will our next generation be?

Why did our Chief executive Mr. Tsueng insist there is no serious air pollution in Hong Kong. If our government has no courage to envisage the problem, how can we seek solutions?

The situation in Hong Kong is already better than mainland China, what is the picture of those industrialised area? if an artist of impressionism has chances to visit Guangzhou, how will he depict this area on the canvas? Several strokes of grey in different magnitudes?

Many people believe China will be the next dominant nation in the coming 20 years... Do you think so? For me, it is just a fantasy. We guys only focus on 'prosperity' and 'stability' but are hopeless on some more fundamental issue, such as environmental conservation, freedom... What the country is we pass to our next generation???

Lucas now understands some more difficult words.

If I say 'aeoplane', he will look up immediately. Even I make a paper aeoplane for him and tell him it is a 'paper aeoplane', he will still look up the sky.

He also knows what is 'gai gai' (street), if anyone approaches him and say bringing him to street, he will open his arms to be carried eagerly.

Blossoming personalities

Lucas is reaching 10 1/2 months, his personalities emerge vividly. To summarize what kind of person he is (let use this as a check list and count how many points I can get in next 20 years ):

He is a baby boy with very strong characters. He does not want you to be his boss, he knows what he needs and does hate all force-actions. When he refuses to drink milk, you will not be succeeded to force him to have another single drop. Sometimes you can convince him to follow your instructions if he agrees with your reasons though. The bad thing is sometimes he has no idea what you are talking about...

All babies are experts of mind-reading, only adults somehow lose this ability when they get older. Lucas is also excelled in this skill. When he knows you are angry by reading your face, he will pretend he is innocent and tries to make you laugh.

The only daily activity he hates is changing clothes, sometimes I feel I am wrestling with him when trying to put on a body suit for him... I am trying to get tips from parenting books about how-to-keep-your-baby-stable-and-quiet-when-dressing.

After all, Lucas is still a little baby, a coin has two faces, babies bring you both happiness and headaches. Being a parent, you need patience and also intelligence, and it would be an advantage if you also have knowledge on first-aid, psychology, biology, sports, etc, etc.

It is not easy to be a parent, but the endless fun will reward you.

A good progress

Lucas is having a good progress in his 9-month:

Two teeth come out.

Has a shaky stand-up for 5 seconds, without any support.

Speaks 'Yeah Yeah (grandpa), Daddy and Mama clearly. However, he doesn't know what these words mean. He will say 'Daddy' to his panda stuff toy.

When he refuses or rejects somethings, he says 'ng-ah' sometimes, sounds a bit like 'don't' in Cantonese.

Raises and claps his hands with meaning.

Loves to show off.

Stares at people in unfriendly way when he perceives him/her as an enemy.

Good kid Lucas

Lucas just had a nice long weekend with me and Jeff.

On Friday, I had an annual leave, we went to Daddy's working place and making Daddy to finish his work earlier. We then went to Chinese University and Tai Po park in the afternoon.

On Saturday, we went to the flower exhibition in Causeway Bay.

On Sunday, we visited PoPo, Kung Kung and auntie. We shared a great time together.

Lucas started to say 'Mama', especially when he is tired and wants to be attended.

He loves eating bread, apple, rice, and the food you drop on the table...

We are our kid's future

I am reading a very inspiring book about parenting - Children learn what they live.

This book is an elaboration of the world class poem with the same name by the same author, Dorothy Law Nolte, and Rachel Harris. It tells me it is what you do, not how you tell, influencing the growth of your kids. In two words, it is all about love and patience.

This is the famous poem since 1970's and enlightens countless of parents.

Shower Cap

Can't believe Lucas is scared of a shower cap.

Last weekend when I wore my shower cap, he laughed sweetly as usual. Then when he touched it, his smiling suddenly faded away and turned into a frightening cry. I guess he had not expected the soft texture of the shower cap.

Baby is also afraid those furry thing such as the fur trimmed loop which attached to my jacket, I cannot pull the hat up otherwise he will think I am a monster from the Monster Inc.

Working life is harsh and exhausted but I am willing to spend every minute with my kid at home, even though that means I have much less time to take rest. Three of us always have great time together. This morning, baby was groaning when I went out for work. I just wonder how can I leave him for even a second when he can ask me to stay with him literally.

Lucas is 9-month old!!!

Lucas reaches his 9 months today and also some milestones - his first teeth has just come out yesterday, and he can almost stand up without any support.

He is very talkative this few days. Every time when he sees me when I come back home, he babbles lot of things, seems to tell me what adventures he experienced before.

The speed of baby development is much faster than what you expect. He will do somethings that surprises you before you know how to react to it. Raising a baby is exhaustive and you may have to sacrifice something, but what you gain is much more valuable. Having a baby will also let you grow.

Sometimes I would really want to quit my job to be a full time mother. Then I may not be able to achieve self career attainment, but I can devote all my knowledge and time to my precious baby, which is actually more meaningful and fulfilling.

However, as what I mentioned previously, the street-smart-knowledge that a working mom can provide to the baby is also valuable, and she can greatly help the family in economic aspect. It is not bad to offer a shoulder to bear the financial burden of a family.

Lucas gives me a new definition of life.

Lucas knows how to wave people

Lucas can associate 'bye-bye' to waving hand. If you say good bye to him, he will wave his little hands fiercely. If he is exciting, he will wave both hands.

He had gotten flu since end December but he still cannot recovered 100%, now it develops coughing. The doctor prescribed anti-biotic to him in the second visit. I think he is a good doc because he doesn't use a fast but too strong way to let the baby get healed in order to impress the parents, instead, he prefers to let the kids to build the immune system by themselves first, and use anti-biotic if it is really necessary.

Guess what, now he has developed a concept of 'daddy & mommy are going to work'. When we say goodbye before work, he looks like he misses us. Luckily our family still have literally a bunch of persons can play with him while we leave.

When will he start walking? He can stand firm with holding some support, you can also see he is envious on Ching Ching who can walk. I have a gut feel that he can walk before his 1 year old.

Rash and 'Yeah'

Last Friday I worried so much because baby got rashes all over his body and some on his face. The doc said he was infected by some virus such as flu or cold. Luckily it was not very serious and the red spot vanished yesterday.

I felt very upset because baby kept having sick in this few weeks. The doc comforted us and actually it is an effective way to build his immune system.

Anyway, Baby still has running nose and hope he will totally recover soon.

Last Sunday, Baby yelled out 'Yeah!!' when he was exciting! When will he say "MOM"?

Breaking news - Baby says the first word 'Dad'

Lucas just reaches his 8 months yesterday. When we played with him in the morning time, he spoke 'DAD' to us suddenly. I opened my eyes wide, then I echoed back 'DAD', he smiled cheerfully and replied me another 'DAD' again.

Needless to say, Jeff had a very very big grin on his face, I guess he almost cried, what a touching moment.

We are so lucky to witness the first word comes from baby's mouth, because it is very easy to miss the 'first time' of baby as you need to work for a long time outside being a working parent.

Our maid told us that baby knows how to wave his hands when you say 'bye-bye' to him. He did it first time when we had gone for work last Friday.

What a big progress!!

He is improving

Lucas now starts to identify what is edible and what should not be put inside the mouth, and he understands the word 'no' if you repeat it several times.

And he wants people praise him, after all, everyone like to be appreciated. Yesterday when a roomful of people clapped hands because he could finish 7 oz. milk in 5 minutes, he was really in natural high and spoke to us very very loud, his eyes were shining and with the reddish cheeks.

He pulled Ching's hair

Last night when we just arrived home from work, Lucas pulled his 16-month cousin Ching Ching's hair. Ching Ching then screamed loudly and made everyone jumped. When I was cuddling her, Lucas burst into cry. This mischievous boy acted like he is innocent and wanted people to care about him.

Sore throat

I think I am the one who transmitted the sore throat and flu to BB when he kissed, actually bite my lips last weekend. Now he still has running nose, but is getting better.

Lucas can understand what we are talking for quite some time. For example, if I ask him 'Where is your friend Panda?' His gaze will fall on the panda stuff animal.

He develops his own set of language, '
Hey!!' (Meaning: mommy, Daddy, hey, you...)
Ah!! (Meaning: Our domestic help)
Ah kee!! (Meaning: I am happy!)
Aiya! (It annoys me!)

Heavenly divine

Yesterday we bought baby to Sai Kung and had an island hopping. We went to an island by a Sampan. It only took 10 minutes from Sai Kung. Lucas loved the place so much, he was kicking and cheering happily on the beach.

I fed him milk there. He enjoyed the meal with a panoramic sea view and cool sea breeze. Isn't it the ultimate enjoyment?

Lucas stands, and even walks!!

Little Lucas must be a sport-loving baby, he is exciting when watching NBA in TV, and cheering when he sees someone play tennis.

Now if you put your fingers inside his hands, he will raise himself up and stand firmly on the ground. He will also find some support, e.g. stool or storage box to stand up. Lucas also loves walking and jumping, he will show his toothless laugh when walking towards you.

Sometimes, he will even challenge himself by releasing one of your hands when standing up. This is a really adventurous and aggressive baby. We are so proud of you son.

A new year with Baby

This year when we stepped into 2007, I counted down with Jeff, in our bedroom. Baby was having a sound sleep in his bedroom.

Remember last year we had a count down party in my parents' home, also with my aunt's family. I was in my 4 months pregnancy, did not really look like an expecting mom.

One year later, an angel-like baby who has spent already 7 months with us is in the next room, enjoying his sweet dream.

Thanks god for such a miracle happens on us. All the best for him.

Wetland Park Visit

Here is a nice place, a good travel spot especially in sunny winter time.

Lucas loves outdoor place so much, he is apparently with the extrovert trait, I do think that he will be end up in National Geographic somedays when he grows up. Will he be the most handsome geologist?

New 'skill' of Lucas

Since he reached the 7th month, Lucas picked up a new 'skill' - when you take something that he is grabbing, or stop him licking anything, he will distort his red face and cry loudly.

Now he developed concepts of 'Mine' and 'My Freedom', but he still cannot recognize what is food and what is not edible, that is why he will feel sad when we do not allow him to bit our Toshiba notebook.

Talkative Lucas

I feel that the cognitive development of Lucas is progressing in an unbelievable speed, he starts to understand the environment around him.

And starting from yesterday, I sense that he would miss me and Jeff if we leave home for work, you can read his facial expression, his smile fades away slowly when we are leaving. Every night when we get back, he becomes very exciting and opens his arms to ask for hugging.

Now he speaks always especially when everyone is talking. Last night when we had dinner, he had made noise for quite some time but not one was aware about this as we were in a big discussion, then suddenly he cried impatiently. It seemed that he complaint no one paid attention to him.

It is so good to have interaction with my baby!!!

7 OZ

天朗肚痛後發燒後,正如老人家咁講,胃口好咗 . 之前最多都係5安,而家一口氣就67 安. 無奶飲幾日, 睇來天朗更喜歡和珍惜奶奶.

A good mood day

Lucas recovered, now is gaining weight and his cheeks come back.

His sudden outburst shocks me sometimes. Last night when I brought him to Toy R' Us, he spoke very loud. It seems that he is experiencing his voice.

This monring, he got one big eye and one eye small after woke up.

Lucas is so cute, I love him.

Hope the good mood can be kept the whole day long.

Diarrhea

Lucas got diarrhea this Monday, now is recovering.

This Monday was Jeff's birthday. This was really his unforgettable birthday.

I felt so upset last few days because baby becomes skinny, his cheeks are shrinking.

Now I know how mothers feel when their kids are sick, you would rather be the one suffering the sickness instead of your angel.

Anyway, Lucas is recovering now, hope he can become a chubby baby again very soon.

Lucas's 6-month birthday

We celebrated Lucas's 6-month birthday two days ago (Nov 21).

I worked late that night, but luckily I managed to buy a cake and arrived home before he fell asleep.

It is so impressive to witness you baby growing day by day in an unbelievable fast pace.

Next Monday will be Lucas's father's birthday. Happy birthday my precious!!! =)

Girls speak earlier

Always hear people say baby girls speak earlier than boys because of the biological design. Today I heard a very funny story, it is about a baby girl who had not spoken a single word even she reached the expected age, her parents worried so much. One day when the family was having meal, the girl suddenly said, 'I don't like chicken.' The whole family petrified.

Sometimes you think babies don't understand what we are talking about, but actually they learn so far and even don't bother to show you, and some may suddenly say a complete sentence without a single trace.

Don't know what type of baby Lucas will be, but I guess he cannot wait to show off every little things he knows.

A mouthful of yummy food

Lucas starts having the follow food:

• Apple
• Pumpkin
• Mashed potato
• Papaya
• Biscuit for babies
• Fruit juice

No wonder he does not love drinking milk now, he has just discovered the world is actually much more interesting. Anyway, thanks god that he likes eating.

Lucas attended a wedding banquet

We attended Lung's wedding banquet yesterday with Lucas. It was his first time to join such a big scale 'gathering'. Lucas didn't really enjoy the dinner though, he was very nervous and always crying, he even hid his head to my chest and used his hands to cover his face.

Last night, he kept screaming during sleep, maybe he had nightmare.

Lucas is so funny.

Advertisement next door

It is so amusing that a 10 yearsold girl next door had stucked an ad at her door -the content was about 'I am a 10 years old girl and I can help you to take care of baby, free of charge.' Her maid took that piece of paper away because it was too funny. Kids are very interesting and they will surprise you anytime. I wonder if I am the girl's 'target customer'...

Itchy itchy

We know Lucas will have his first two teeth soon!! His gum is very itchy and now he often has hot temper, he always put things inside his mouth to chew (even his pacifier clip, my arms or shoulders). I sooth him by many kisses and hugs. Believe that his first two teeth will be the birthday gift for Jeff, or the Christmas gift for us this year!!!

Lucas refuses to drink milk

Since we fed him some banana and sweet barley cereal, Lucas is very repulsive to milk.

Everytime when we feed him, he expects us to give him something much more delicious. I fed him apple this evening, he even pulled my arm to make the spoon into his mouth. However, when I just took up the milk bottle, this little man screamed loudly without a second thought, let alone putting it into his mouth.

He is a very choosy baby.

And then, Lucas skipped one time of meal tonight.

Now, he knows there are many delicious food in the world, he is curious to all things that can eat except milk powder. Jeff said we should only feed him milk in the coming days in order to make him forgets those yummy fruits... However, I am just skeptial... what happen if he has good memory?

Last Friday we celebrated Lucas's 5-month birthday at APM. He is so adorable.

Hope he is cheerful always!!

Something you cannot explain

Have I told you that I miss Lucas all the time, even I stay in my own room when he sleeps in his own room? Then you may imagine how I feel when I go for work everyday.

I cannot explain this kind of psychological situation, is it what people call 'motherhood'??

Remember that when I studied Gender Studies, an article called 'Nature or Nurture??' It analyzed whether the first 'division of labour' human practised - men go out and women stay home is based on the physical design or is cultivated by the culture. I believed strongly it was caused by culture, but now I think the physical part, e.g. your hormonal level should be one of the prime factors.

I hope that I feel perplexing just because I am still in a transitional stage, which I will pass through it eventually and reach a new chapter very soon.

Milk powder + rice water

The flu I had last week had not been healed, I didn't take the medicine because I wanted to continue milk pumping.

However, the flu was getting worse in last weekend and BB also got transmitted. Therefore I started to have the pills these two days and threw away the milk I pumped out.

He had much more milk powder than before. My mom-in-law suggested to use rice water to dilute the powder, which adds some nutrients and remove the heaty.

He tried once today, seems not bad.

Stay with Lucas for less than an hour everyday

I can only spend less than an hour with Lucas everyday because of the OT work. However, what can I complain about when my colleague work until the mid night everyday?

What kind of life we are having? What I want is just some family time, some enough sleep, some decent dinners with my family, it is not something luxurious, is it?

I should make some change, but not in the soon future. It is too unfair to my husband and my baby.

Rice Cereal

Lucas started eating cereal for two weeks, he likes it a lot. Now is drinking some milk powder also.

Am still feeding him breast milk, people always say he is sturdy and handsome, I am proud of it. At least this whole exhaustive breast milk pumping exercise is still worth.

We will let him try juice in the fifth month.

I feel really bad!

I feel bad because I have only spent less than an hour to my baby in last two days. I came back home at 10pm and baby slept at 10 something. I don't want to be like this.

Baby needs mommy, so does my family.

It gets back to the starting point - how to achieve the balance of life?

I feel totally exhausted, being a mom and a working person is very tough, both physically and psychologically.

BB drinks 6 oz.

BB is growing bigger and now can drink more. He can have 6 oz. milk in a feeding. Lucas, good job!!

It is worth to continue the breast-feeding.

Last weekend BB became friend with me again. On Friday he screamed when I carried him, let alone feeding him. It was really heart-breaking. Luckily in weekend I spent most time with him and now he attaches to me if I am at home.

Starting from 4 months he could take other food, such as juices and rice cereal. It is funny that he will stare at you if you eat in front of him, then his mouth will move and try to follow what you do.

I do wish to put down all my works and rush back home immediately to see my adorable baby.

Ho Yeah, I get back to my pre-pregnancy weight!!

I think I will be even thinner than before if I keep breast-feeding baby. I will name this as 'the vampire effect'!

Okay, I know you concern Lucas more than me. Don't worry, he is in good shape as usual, very energetic and talkative. He screamed to my sister last time and made her a bit upset, and he screamed to Jeff when he tried to force-feeding him.

Lucas has such as strong and distinctive personality. Parenting him would be a big challenge.

Poo Poo

My brother-in-law shared an experience with me: When he was not a father, he could not believe how his friend felt so happy simply because his baby had pooed, and even talked with his family through phone in the middle of the meeting. He thought it was weird.

Then, one day, he became someone's father, he totally felt that friend.

I could feel his friend also because many baby has difficulty to pass motion everyday. If he/she had not pooed for several days, you would worry so much.

It's good that Lucas is very healthy right now.

Rash

Gosh, Lucas had rashes all over his body this early morning, right after the milk powder feeding. We sent him to the hospital immediately. The doc couldn't confirm what caused it but we all suspected he has allergy to the milk powder.

That means that I cannot stop breast-feeding, at least within this month.

This is the first time he has serious illness, I stayed at home to take of him. He gets well now and is very talkative.

Lucas is stepping into the 4th month

Lucas looks so happy these few days.

Friends came to visit him in the last few weekends, everyone like him a lot. I couldn't believe that he becomes so popular. Last time after the Yum Cha in Shatin, an old lady jumped in front of us and said she recognized Lucas because everytime she went to that restaurant she could meet him there, I guess that old lady would go there for Yum Cha on every Sunday in order to see him.

And, you can make friends easily if having a baby in your arms. Waitresses love to talk with me if I bring Lucas along.

I was going to stop breast-feeding because my health condition is deteriorating, but I really don't wanna give up, now I discover that the nutrients could be restored back to my body by simply pumping out lesser milk. Now I adopt this method and look better apparently in these two days.

I bought Lucas to my parent's house yesterday, my aunt, uncle and cousins were also there. When we left, all of them waved Lucas cheerfully, but not a single one bothered to say good-bye to me.....

Outgoing Baby

Lucas gets bored to a place easily, everyday he should go out for a walk.

Two weeks ago we bought him to Sai Kung with my family. It was his first time seeing sea. He was stunned by the tremendous blue water and stared everywhere enthusiastically.

Lucas has strong curiousity. When he grows bigger, I will bring him to countryside, to appreciate the beauty of nature.

By the way, he also has Monday blues, because we take him out during weekends, he supposes we will do it on Monday also......

Dancing Horror

Lucas is a clever kid, he knows how to manipulate his parents.

Maybe he knows I feel guilty for leaving him at home and go out for work in the work days, he loves to bully me in weekends. However, I still feel very happy that he still wants me to carry him, at least that means he likes to attach me.

It was funny that I scared him by my crazy dance.

Last night, after the feeding at 10pm, Jeff asked me to dance in front of Lucas to make him smile. I shaked every part of my body strongly with a little dumb bell. Lucas stared at me for several seconds and suddenly screamed and bursted into tears. I stopped dancing immediately and hugging him at once. Lucas always cried but did not have tears everytime, but this time, I guessed he was really panic.

After a few minutes, Lucas calmed down and Jeff performed Yoga, he smiled again.

Should I give up??

Gosh, my allergy comes back. Everytime right after I pump out the milk, my skin becomes reddish, my eyes are swollen, and last night, my finger joints are itchy.... My body sends me signal that I am overloaded, but when everytime I look at my chubby Lucas, I don't want to give up breast-feeding.

If I know how to find an equilibrium point, I know when to make a rational decision.

Stretch Mark

Well, there is a vertical strecth mark about 1 cm long appears in the left side of my tummy, which caused by the pregnancy. Comparing with some mothers who have spider like stretch marks all over the belly, I am very lucky.

However, I still feel it is very obvious, I am going to put some tattoo on it, such as a star, a rose, or even a baby doll, etc.

I am also thinking about having a naval ring...

Okay, all these are just thoughts, which may hardly come true, because Jeff will kill me...

A Java Program for Pumping Breast Milk Feeding and Storage optimization

A lovely Sunday even it rains heavily outside.

My angel is still sleeping, he sleeps peacefully and sweet. He is so cute and makes me smile.

How come the rain last for a few seconds only?? It's sunny now...

Lucas is 2 months old now. I had lots of ups and downs in past 2 months. My emotion was like a roller coaster. Everytime when I was upset, I reminded myself I am a lucky person after all, I have a perfect husband and a lovely baby, but I still broke into tears many times.

Luckily, Jeff brought me to consult a Chinese medical practitioner, and he diagnosed that my health condition was extremely poor and lack of rest, this also explained why I had nightmare every night. After taking the medicine he prescribed several times, now I feel much better and am stronger.

TGI Friday!!

Have got back to my work place for a week, thanks god it's Friday!!

Adapting to a working mom life is not as harsh as I supposed, just needed some time to figure out what had happened in the project in the first half day, then everything seems smooth so far.

In addition that Jelly is out of town since this Tuesday, I could occupy the whole room, it is much easier for me to pump breast milk in office. However, I still feel it is a bit weird to run the 'dairy' production in the work place twice a day.

Everyday I should pump out the milk four times: 6 something in the morning, then twice in office, most likely around lunch time and around 4-5pm, then the last time is at 11pm, and repeat the same cycle the next day. It is very exhausted but I don't want to give up, however, it made me so tired and dehydrated.

Now I can produce 32 oz everyday, should establish 'Good harvest day' if the production exceeds this level!!

Being a mother needs unconditional love!

Now, I know it is not easy to be a mother, you should suffer a lot once the new life develops inside your body.

And even after it comes out.

Since Lucas was born, I should wake up during midnight for breast-feeding. If I skip that round, my breast would be engorged and cause the heat and pain. My skin condition is getting worse because of the poor sleeping quality.

Today I had the final maternity check up, I told my doc about the nightmares. She said it may be caused by the lack of calcium and hormone, due to breast-feeding. She prescribed some supplements for me, and asked me to try to skip the mid-night feeding.

Breast-feeding is so difficult, but when I look at my healthy Lucas, all suffering is still worth.

Alright, I plan to breast-feed him for 6 months, I hope I could be determined enough and accomplish this mission!!

A sleepless baby

Have you ever met a baby who refuses to sleep? I have one.

Generally, infants should sleep for around 16-20 hours per day, but Lucas's schedule is much shorter than that. He wants people to carry him and walk around the house, he also knows what boring is.

Sometimes, I will bring him out and walk around in evening. He would open his eyes wide and see the world, and then fall asleep and enjoy the breeze, but wake up again when we get back to home.

Lucas is a demanding baby.

I start to miss Lucas

I will resume my work on July 24, there are less than 2 weeks from now on. Imagining that I will leave him from at least 10 days everyday, I start to miss him.

I will try to breast feed my baby for 6 months, now is about 2 months passed. It's time have a comprehensive planning about the logistic of pumping milk during the office hours. I know it will bring me a lot of inconvenience, but hope that I could be determined enough to face all the obstacles.

F.I.L. always 'reminds' me not to carry the baby all the time, but he doesn't understand that everytime he sees me carrying Lucas because I should bring him to change diaper. Lucas is smart but you couldn't expect him to walk by himself in his first few months, right?

Experts nowadays make people confused, especially for those so-called parenting experts. They always give parents divergent and contradicting concepts for raising babies. For example, one school of thought suggests parents not to carry babies always, otherwise they will be spoiled. Another school believes that carrying could give babies a security feeling, which will help them to build confidence and self-esteem when they grow up.

Which schools we would choose, I always prefer to be moderate in this kind of situation.

BB has diaper rash again

The diaper rash comes back, and also the stomachache. Today BB cries fiercely.

I just gave him the medicine, now he feels better and falls asleep. I will bathe him by myself today.

Sigh, BB also makes me worrying...

Break & Burn!!!

Gosh, I've serious muscle pain, should I stop doing exercise today? Or do I just use this as an excuse to skip workout today?

Wait, Yummy Mommy in Discovery home & health channel is talking about postpatum exercise, shouldn't miss!! Let see if there is any effective way to help me to squeeze into my original jeans earlier.

How come only mothers suffer all these????

BTW, did I tell you that during the delivery, except the pain, what I felt was a strong force inside my body, which pushing Lucas out of my womb?

It is a very amazing feeling, the force is full of energy, is like a force from God or from the supernatural, which makes the little soul to come out and see the world.

This overwhelming feeling gave me the strong courage and energy, and even overcame my fear and pain!

After all, it is a wonderful experience, but if you ask me if I want to experience it again, at the moment, I will reply, 'definitely not!!'

Time for myself, finally

Wow, Lucas is willing to sleep in his own play pack, finally.

And now I have time for my ownself, then I decide to write something in blog.

In the last few days, I was totally exhausted and lack of sleep. Should feed the mischief little one in the midnights and unable to detach from him during daytime. It gives me 2 dark eye circles and allergic and dry skin.

And as I wash my hands too often, my hands are becoming rough, I need to have a big dab of handcream after every wash.

Wow, being a mom is not easy, but lots of people in this planet are taking this job as their life-long career.

My baby is so strange

Have you ever seen a baby:

1. Not willing to sleep between meals, especially during midnight.
2. Can smell where his mother is, once his mother passing by, he will cry in order to get the attention and wait for mommy to hold him.
3. Very energizing, can push mother' s breast away by one hand if he feels full when feeding.
4. Easy to fall asleep if many people are around him and talk loudly. (This explains point 1 why he keeps awake in late night.)
5. Loves to listen 2 CDs, they're The Sound of Music and Musical Mug.

Get back to shape

15 days after birth, my weight is 129lbs now, 13 lbs is lost. My target is 110 lbs. Hopefully I could achieve it in late July.

I am working hard on some gentle postpatum exercise, my doc only allowed me to have some stretching workout in these 4-6 weeks. Therefore, breast-feeding becomes the most effective way to control my weight.
